Meal Plans Basics

A Choicelunch Meal Plan is a school lunch subscription that you can tailor to your family’s habits, tastes, and budget. It’s flexible and convenient: you can choose how many days per week you want to order, and the number of sides you want included with each lunch. More Days + More Sides = More Savings!

Meal Plans offer up to 15% off depending on how many days and sides you include in your plan. There is an additional 5% off for a second child and 10% off for the third (and more) when enrolling in Meal Plans.

Yes! You can choose how many days per week you’d like to order and whether or not to include sides like snacks, fruit, or drinks. The more you order, the more you save.

Yes! Families get 5% off for a second child and 10% off for the third (and more) when enrolling in Meal Plans.

Regular entrees are sized for PK-elementary school, with Large entrees containing about 50% more food for middle and high schoolers. Premium entrées include items like salads, sushi, wraps, and specialty sandwiches.

Yes! If you want to add lunch on an extra day or include additional sides like snacks or drinks on one day, you can always order extra items à la carte whenever you need. Just add funds to your Wallet and order away!

If you have ChoicelunchAI turned on as part of your Meal Plan, your lunches are scheduled for you each month. You can review what’s planned and make any changes you want.

If ChoicelunchAI is not enabled, you’ll still need to place your lunch orders ahead of time.

Sick/Vacation Days

Each Meal Plan includes a set number of sick or vacation days. If your child will be absent:

  • Cancel the lunch online or in the app before 9 AM the day before, and leave that day ‘open’ in your Lunchbox.

  • If your child gets sick after the online cancellation deadline (9 AM the day before), email our Support Team at [email protected] by 9 AM on the day of service and let us know you’re canceling because your child is sick.

You’ll receive a credit for the canceled lunch, which will be applied to your next week’s Meal Plan billing. Please note that credit will not be issued for lunches canceled after the 9 AM deadline.

If you don’t place an order on a Meal Plan day, that day automatically rolls over to the next week as a sick/vacation day. The unused day is added as a credit to your plan and applied to your next billing cycle.

If you skip a lunch day during the week, don’t worry—our system keeps track. Any unused days will automatically roll over as credits and be applied to the next week’s billing on Friday.

Each Meal Plan comes with a set number of Sick/Vacation Days you can use when your child is absent and you cancel a scheduled lunch from a Meal Plan day. You get 2 Sick/Vacation Days for every day in your weekly plan. Here’s how it breaks down:

  • 5-day plan = 10 Sick/Vacation Days per year
  • 4-day plan = 8 days
  • 3-day plan = 6 days
  • 2-day plan = 4 days
  • 1-day plan = 2 days

If you know ahead of time that your child won’t need lunch (for vacation or any other reason), just cancel the lunch online or in the app before 9 AM the day before, and leave that day ‘open’ in your Lunchbox.

You can view all your Meal Plan details in the ‘Meal Plans’ section of the app or website. There, you’ll see:

  • Your weekly cost
  • Days per week included
  • Entrée size and number of sides
  • Sick/Vacation days used and remaining

You’ll also receive regular email summaries that include billing info and any credits from unused days.

Billing & Plan Updates

Meal Plans are billed every Friday for the upcoming week’s lunches. It’s a simple way to stay ahead and make sure your student is all set!

Nope! If a date is blocked off on the calendar for a holiday or non-school day, you won’t be billed. If a day off is added after billing has already gone through, our system will catch it and apply a credit the following Friday.

Go to the ‘Meal Plans’ section in the app or website to view your current plan information.
You’ll see everything you’ve selected: number of days, sides, entrée size, sick/vacation days used and remaining, and weekly cost. You can edit your plan anytime from this screen.

You can modify your plan anytime during the school year, through the app or website. Adjust the number of days, add or remove sides, change entrée size, or enroll additional children. Sick/Vacation days reset at the start of every school year.

ChoicelunchAI

ChoicelunchAI is an exclusive feature for Meal Plan families that puts lunch planning on autopilot. It uses Artificial Intelligence to schedule your child’s lunches and sides each month based on their past orders and choices, so you don’t have to spend time planning meals. 

It fills open days based on your Meal Plan, adds sides if included, and marks AI-selected lunches with a ✨ icon so they’re easy to spot in the Lunchbox. 

Yes. ChoicelunchAI is only available for students enrolled in a Choicelunch Meal Plan.

Once you’re enrolled in a Meal Plan, you’ll see the option to turn on ChoicelunchAI in your Meal Plan settings. Just toggle it on, and AI scheduling will be enabled.

When you first enable it, you’ll see your AI-scheduled lunches appear in your Lunchbox the next morning. We’ll email you once they’re ready to review.

  • ChoicelunchAI runs each month on the 3rd Friday, scheduling lunches for the upcoming month. For example, on Thurs 9/18/25, ChoicelunchAI orders for all of October.
  • When you enroll, we’ll catch you up to this schedule (so if it’s after the 3rd Friday of the month, we’ll catch you up and order for current + upcoming month… else we’ll just order the rest of the current month). 

You can always see the “Next auto-schedule” date on your Meal Plans page, along with the “Schedule period.” 

It looks at past orders and choices: entrées and sides you’ve chosen before. Over time, it learns your family’s tastes and gets smarter, making future plans even more personalized.

No. It only fills open days. Any lunches you’ve already ordered will stay exactly as you placed them.

Exactly the number of days in your child’s Meal Plan. For example, if you’re on a 3-day plan, it will schedule 3 lunches each week. If a clear weekday pattern exists in your past orders, it follows that pattern.

Exactly the number of sides in your child’s Meal Plan. For example, if you’re on a 2-side-per-lunch Plan, it will schedule 2 sides with each lunchChoicelunchAI looks at which sides your child likes with each entrée, when there is a clear pattern.

Yes. You can review and edit any AI-scheduled lunch to swap entrées or change and add sides. You can also cancel an AI-scheduled meal up until the regular order deadline (9 a.m. the day before delivery). Every edit you make helps ChoicelunchAI learn and improve your family’s future plans.

Look for the ✨ sparkle icon in your Lunchbox. That’s how we mark AI-scheduled lunches.

Yes. ChoicelunchAI gets smarter over time. Every time you keep, swap, or cancel a meal, it learns from those changes and uses them to improve future schedules. This means fewer edits will be needed going forward, as plans become more personalized to your child’s tastes.
