You think your grocery bill is high? We spend thousands and thousands of dollars every month on fresh fruit and veggies. The great thing about this (other than the smell of freshly sliced juicy cantaloupe permeating the kitchens first thing in the morning) is that we can get growers and vendors to give us the best. When you spend as much as we do on fresh fruits and veggie, you have some pull and the farmers know that they can count on us for income if they keep delivering quality.
While most of us who go to the farmer’s markets know what is in season, our farmers and produce partners can tell us ahead of time exactly what will be ripe, when. This means we can plan our produce menu and they can prepare for our large orders. Local growers actually have come to depend on us for orders and we depend on them for deliveries.
