From the Front Lines

We have a fabulous group of 10 (yes, 10!) School Specialists who spend their days going from school to school, ensuring our lunches are as enjoyable as possible. They eat, listen, talk and make sure that all is right in the Choicelunch world. Most of our School Specialists were first Moms who ordered our lunches for their kids. We made their lives a little easier,by saving them time, and they joined Choicelunch to spend that time spreading the word. Odd how the world works, huh?

One of our lovely School Specialists, Jonna, is a guest blogger this week, sharing her experience with her son Michael:

School lunch has always been my nemesis. Not only is it a chore, it can be very difficult to satisfy the picky eater. I would wake up every morning and think, “what on Earth can I send to school with him today…that he will eat!” My answer wasn’t ever a good one. What I ended up sending was the same boring peanut butter sandwich or turkey sandwich. I dreaded making lunch. I knew it would lead to waste. Waste of time, money, effort…just plain WASTE.

My son is 14, but has the palette of a 5 year old. I love him to death, but satisfying his bland and albeit difficult taste is quite a challenge. My children attend a school where Choicelunch provides hot lunch. As a parent, I thought GREAT! This will be the answer. At first it was. He ordered pizza. I wanted him to try different things. The problem was, he didn’t. I was going at it all wrong. I was ordering FOR him and not including him in the process. When I became a Choicelunch employee I learned HOW to help him make the choices. We would go online together and let him look at all of the choices he could choose from. He would look at the pictures and read what was in the entree. THIS was huge. He tried things he didn’t care for, BUT, we found about 6 go to’s that he loves! He loves the Pulled BBQ Chicken Sandwich, Potstickers, Chicken Tenders, Shepherds Pie, Annie’s Mac & Cheese and the Pizza. Couldn’t break him of that one!

My friends tell me of the same situation with their kids. I recommend Choicelunch of course, but not because I work for them. Because it is a wonderful option. There is something for everyone. You know your child will be eating healthy. You don’t have to stress out in the morning (or evening). I tell them that I had the same struggles as they do and Choicelunch offers so many solutions!
He may not be eating California Rolls or Tikka Masala Chicken, but at least we’ve moved on from just pizza! That is the great thing about Choicelunch….the CHOICES!
