Choicelunch models for the USDA?
After 15 years, the USDA has issued a creed on improving meals served to kids in public schools. Your Google news alerts are filling your inbox, no doubt. But, what do these proposed changes mean for Choicelunch fans?
In truth, they mean you can skip the headlines and check Groupon’s latest sushi deal.
Choicelunch has always been ahead of the game, and this announcement is confirmation. For example, the new regulations would ban trans-fats from school meals. Choicelunch did that about 4 years ago. The USDA is recommending more fresh fruits and veggiesâ¦ala Choicelunch’s fresh fruit and veggie bin. Whole grains would be emphasizedâ¦huh, are they reading our menu for direction? (They must have seen our Barilla whole grain pastas, or our whole grain hamburger buns.)
The reality is that this national push is exactly what we need: more attention paid to kids and food. There is a connection between what we eat, what we feed our kids, and the better world they will inherit.
