Where’s the beef (from)?
Our Nutritionist, Kelsey, recently wrote to a parent new to Choicelunch, who asked us a great question: where is your beef from? We figured when 1 person wants to know, more than likely, there are others!
We source our Antibiotic-free beef from two key partners: Painted Hills Ranch in Oregon and Coleman Natural. Only about 2% of all beef sold is considered ABF and pasture-fed. Since it is always best to get information straight from the source (dare I say cow’s mouth?;) this is what our beef partners have to say:
Painted Hills is a collection of family ranches in Oregon who raise all natural, never-ever cattle without antibiotics, or added growth hormones. “NO ANIMAL BY-PRODUCTS OF ANY KIND ARE EVER FED TO OUR ANIMALS. This means no bone meal, no rendered fats, no gelatin, NOTHING WHATSOEVER that is from another animal is used in what we feed our cattle. Painted Hills Natural Beef cattle are fed a 100% Universal Vegetarian Diet. They graze freely in Northwest pastures for most of their lives. After 14 months, they are transferred to a spacious feeding facility. There, they are finished on a diet of corn, alfalfa and other available healthy food sources.”
